Whilst Tasmania is only recognised as one wine region by most Australia, like all other states we have defined wine growing regions within the state, all offering their own distinctive soil types and flavours profiles that characterise the wines from all these regions.
At Mezethe’s Greek Taverna, whilst offering a Traditional Greek experience, we focus where possible on the finest Tasmanian produce available and adding our classic Greek influence, this is no different with our wines. We have hand picked wines from the finest sub regions Tasmania has to offer.
Greece’s wine industry has experienced a renaissance in recent years, with wineries such as Kir. Yianni and Domaine Sigalas leading a concerted quality drive. While modernising, these wineries have retained the distinctive character of their wines by nurturing nativeGreek varieties, most of which are found nowhere else in the world.Naturally, these unique wines make the best partners for authentic Greek cuisine.
